Another key thing to develop is the skill of crafting a story and developing characters to make them feel more alive. Many prominent writers of today found their ways to official print through working on ideas again and again until mastering the skill.
Perhaps my greatest weakness is my writing skills. While I have a great concept I sometimes struggle with the some spelling and grammar issues. These issues mainly stem from changing schools when we moved when I was younger. The school I came from focused on grammar and spelling the year after I left, while the new school I attended was on that focused on it the year before I arrived. All my school life I was moaned at by teachers for using wrong words but never actually explaining why. Without that how could I learn the correct words and spellings to use? For example at 25 my ICT tutor was the first person to explain to me when "there" was appropriate as a spelling and when "their" was to be used. In a simple two minute conversation she taught me more about grammar than I had ever received from school, as the rest I have had to try and figure out myself.
However, while this has been an obsticle in my life it has never stopped me from creating stories and working with the written word. For the last few years, between my studies, I have been working on a fan-series based off of a Japanese franchise called Precure. Only by facing my difficulties could I hope to improve and learn from them. Along with writing a 54 episode series outline, split into 6 separate sagas to tell the story. I have even pulled on my artist skills to create character designs and images that can be used to enhance the story further. Below is a link to information on the series and all the images so far to have been produced.
