Fan Trailer Fun!
Fan Trailers are something that have been getting made for years by fans. Fans use footage from various shows and movies to create new trailers. Sometimes these are using a single show or movie, or sometimes see various shows and movies mashed together to create something new. Below are two fan trailers I have made.
Star Trek Voyager: The Movie - Fake Fan Trailer
Being brought up on Sci-Fi by my dad, I have always had a soft spot for Star Trek. Easily my favorite series was Star Trek Voyager, but I never got a feature film from the series like they did for the original series and Star Trek: The Next Generation. So I decided I was going to create my own dream movie trailer for the series. Where Star Trek Voyage saw the crew facing off against one of Star Trek's most fearsome foes, The Borg, again and again it was an easy option to decide on my antagonists to face against the crew of the U.S.S Voyager.
Using dramatic music from Bensound.com I aimed to make a Sci-Fi space adventure looking movie with a hint of darker horror aspects as an undertone. I did not want to include dialogue as I feel it makes the enemy seem more imposing.
Mighty Morphin' Dino Thunder Charge - Movie Trailer.
While I was researching and creating my Power Ranger Fan Openings I discovered the Super Sentai counterpart from Japan made a special movie for their counterpart of Power Rangers Dino Charge. The movie had them bring back the Rangers from their counterparts of Mighty Morphin' and Dino Thunder. This got me thinking about how early Power Rangers was created. Using the Ranger footage from Super Sentai and dubbing it with the voice acting from the cast. Using sound bites from the series I dubbed the footage to create a trailer for special of Power Rangers featuring the Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers, the Dino Thunder Ranger and the Dino Charge Rangers.
Downloading some free sound effects such as lasers shooting, explosions and a tyrannosaurus cry matching the moments along with the sound bites worked pretty well. The main issue is some of the sound bites have background music which bleeds in ever so slightly. However some are less obvious than others as they match in with the background theme music from Power Rangers Dino Charge.
