The Vintage Nostalgia Fair 2016
The Vintage Nostalgia Fair is an event that occurs in Wiltshire every year, and with each year it gets bigger and better. With the organisers knowing this, they approached myself and four of my peers (Kelly Turner, Zak Wilkins & Sam Long) to film coverage for their 2016 event. With them offering us free accommodation and entry to the weekend events, we lapped up the opportunity to gain more field based experience. When we asked them exactly what they were looking for, we were told they wanted us to reflect the fun of the event and show them how people were receiving the event.
With this in mind, we decided to aim to make them three videos. One which would act as a short promo for 2017's event, one that highlighted the activities (which included live music and vintage dance lessons) and a third that gave them feedback from patrons of the 2016 event. With all of this in mind we made a plan to start on day one with some simple shots of the stalls and cars on display, while at the same time finding out the planned events for the following day. We spotted on our second day was 1950's dance lessons and a collection of bands that play music from that era. With some warning to the dance teachers, we were given the green light to film their lesson. We also requested permission from one of the bands that also followed the lessons, with the aim to use one of their live performed songs for one of the videos.
On our third day we simply aimed to get feedback from those at the Fair, while also looking out for extra shots that could be used as cut-away shots in the editing room. Once the event was over, our aim was to start editing the footage together. With three videos decided on, we split into three and took a video each to edit. Kelly worked on the 30 second long promo video for 2017, Zak the customer feedback video and I worked on the video looking at the live performances and fun of the event.

The Aftermath
With happy clients, we were thanked for our help and they have used the videos on social media to help promote their 2017 event. Even more exciting, was them inviting me back for 2017 with a new crew to make them more videos covering the event and helping to promote 2018.
