Salisbury International Arts Festival Makes History
I was presented with an opportunity to take part in a historical event taking place in my home town of Salisbury. For the Ageas Salisbury International Arts Festival 2015. Four separate choirs situated around the market square sang songs commemorate the vibrant trade history of the cathedral city of Salisbury.
Myself and two peers were approached by our curriculum manager to film the event over two nights. The first was during a dress rehearsal for us to capture music for two of the four choirs, the second night was on performance night so we could get footage of the other two choirs. We then also filmed footage on both nights of the four choirs uniting for the grand finale performance in the center of the square.
I flew solo for filming with my peers joining as a pair to film the choirs. As we were filming we did notice we would have a major issue and that would be how to edit together the footage from both nights to create a piece that was consistent without trying to merge songs from various choirs.
My curriculum manager trusted me to edit the footage together as I had an idea to make it as a miniature documentary. This then allowed me to order footage of the in the level of skills from the choirs. I then produced a short script to add to the footage completing the production.

When it came to writing the script I did not have the choirs written in the order they may appear in the final video as I did not know yet which order the choirs would go. During editing I chose to use a blue transition to tie the production to the colour scheme of the college and featured triangles to symbolise the Cathedral.
The Market Choir - Short Documentary
We presented the final production to Sophie Amstell the Learning and Participation Manager for Ageas Salisbury International Arts Festival who was very pleased with the production and supported my choice of making it into a short documentary as it portayed the evening in a format that could be understood by those who may not have seen the event.
